giving tuesday new church story 7 image

Carol, a member of New Community Rising Church, was working in a group home in Orange County, CA. The city has several co-ed group homes for children. These children, between the ages of 8-11, are wards of the state and considered not fit for foster or adoption because of their disruptive and violent behavior. Often, these children are victims of sexual abuse, drug abuse, physical abuse, and/or abandonment.  One evening, Carol was working the night shift, sitting in the hallway to make sure the children would not enter into other children’s rooms.

Candice was severely sexually abused and sold for sex by her parents. This particular night, she couldn’t sleep and emerged from her room. She asked Carol to sing to her. Candice whispered, “I stopped asking for God to help me. I would cry and cry for him to help me, but God never showed up. Not for me.”

Carol told Candice that Jesus loves her, and she is so much more than what happened to her — that she has a mighty purpose in the Kingdom.

Every neighborhood needs a church where children like Candice can experience the love of Christ.

Leaders like Carol are ready to lead within new churches in under-resourced neighborhoods. But they need generous people to invest in these new churches through Stadia. Please help Stadia start neighborhood churches in America’s inner cities by donating on Giving Tuesday. Thanks to a generous matching gift, your donation is worth double!
