It all started in 1999 when people began to call regularly, email and visit Crossover Church from all over the country after hearing Urban D’s (Pastor Tommy) first national Hip-Hop release, “The Missin’ Element.” The very first Flavor Fest was in November of 2000, where a few hundred people gathered to be part of the conference. Each year after this, just the conference alone has grown not just by hundreds, but thousands of people. However Flavor Fest isn’t just about the conference, it is also about the concerts and events as well. Close to 20,000 people have attended the concerts, which vary with some of our favorite Christian artists each year.
Flavor Fest seeks to empower the next generation of urban leaders by providing platforms for artists and urban leaders to share what they are doing in their ministries. Each general session and workshop give attendees the skills, techniques and guidance on how to better spread the gospel in the urban context.Ministry can be challenging and filled with a never ending list of obstancles. Flavor Fest is a conference where as a leader, artist, pastor and ambassador of the gospel can experience training, encouragement and the drive to overcome ministry obstacles.
We gather at Flavor Fest to pray, praise , celebrate and prepare to take back our cities for his kingdom.
