10 Ways to Tell if You’re Ready to Start a New Church

May 18, 2021

At Stadia Church Planting, we know that you want to be a leader who makes an impact. The way you feel called to do that is to start or lead a thriving church that reaches the next generation with the hope of Jesus.

And that’s awesome! You’ve got the calling. You’ve got the skills. But there’s just one problem. You don’t have the resources you need or the relationships to depend on to help ensure your church thrives, grows, and multiplies. Now more than ever, the world needs to know the hope of Jesus, so it’s more important than ever that church leaders should have everything they need to make a difference for the next generation.

That’s where we come in! As church leaders ourselves, Stadia understands that God has called you to something big – but we know limited resources can make it hard to get there. With a 90% success rate for new churches and thousands of church leaders supported by our services and people, we have the resources and relationships you need to thrive.

But – let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Calling and skills are great – but timing matters, too. How can you really be sure that you’re ready to start or lead a church that thrives right now?

Well, here’s the first helpful resource we’re excited to offer you! We’ve created a ‘checklist’ of sorts, used at our Church Planting Assessment, to help potential church planters and leaders walk through their readiness in starting and leading the church for the next generation.

The checklist consists of ten ‘success factors’ that our planter development team has found are vital in being ready to start (or lead) a new church. No worries – we know no one is perfect (us included!) But the checklist asks specific questions related to each success factor so that you can see where your strengths and weaknesses are and assess if your current season is the right one to start or lead a thriving church!

You can walk through the checklist yourself right here, right now! Download the free checklist, which will include guided questions for each of these areas:

  1. Spiritual Vitality
  2. Marriage & Family (if applicable)
  3. Relational Skills
  4. Directional Clarity
  5. Catalytic Leadership
  6. Disciple Making
  7. Communication
  8. Personal Capacity
  9. Contextual Awareness
  10. Work Ethic

Then walk through the questions that go along with each success factor listed above.

We are here to help you start leading a thriving, growing, multiplying church for the next generation without feeling burnt out lacking the resources and relationships you need!
